UV Sun Sense Wristbands
UVA and UVB rays may be harmful to both adults and children. Both children and adults forget to apply sunscreen lotion. To remember this, they can wear sun sensitive wristbands. The sun-sensitive wristband turns to dark orange-brown color when it’s time to reapply sunscreen and light orange or salmon when it’s time to cover up or get out of the sun. Major advantage of this wristband is you will remember its time to apply sunscreen lotion and reduce your chances of painful sunburn. It can be used in water and is cheaper than similar wristbands.

Wristband transmitters
Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is about to make finding individuals with autism or Alzheimer’s disease who’ve strayed from home a lot easier. Fairfield County is going to launch Project Lifesaver, a tracking system that uses radio frequencies and wristband transmitters to locate lost loved ones. The new system will reduce search time down by hours and possibly days. The average amount of time to find a lost individual wearing a wristband transmitter is 30 minutes. Individuals who participate in this program wear battery-powered, personalized wristbands law enforcement members locate with a mobile tracking system.

Drink responsibly wristbands
A young woman was arrested by Crestview Police Department officer because she hit a pole while driving. She and some of her friends got drunk at AJ’s in Destin earlier. They had driven her to Crestview and left her at her parked car, which was in a grocery store parking lot. “I wasn’t expecting to drive home” she told the officer. She thought that she has left the phone in her friend’s car and so she was “driving around in circles”. When the officer asked if she’d been drinking, ’she started to cry, the report said. The wristband on her arm urged her to “Drink responsibly”.

Wristbands reunite children
Safety wristbands help parents find their lost children. These wristbands have been introduced in Wells to reunite lost children. Parents have to just write a contact number on the band so that children can be easily traced if they wander away from them on the beach. These bands can be availed at free of cost from coast watch volunteers, who are supporting the Wells Safer Neighborhood Team (SNT) to help boost child safety. PCSO Andrew Dixon at Wells SNT said: “This is a system that has worked well before and through other organizations. It gives parents peace of mind that they can be quickly contacted in the event that their child wanders off and can be found. We would like to thank the volunteers at Coast Watch for supporting the initiative.”

Acupressure wristbands reduces nausea
A new study says Acupressure wristbands can help cancer patients get 25% less nausea during radiation treatment. Wristbands put pressure on a “nausea point” identified by traditional Chinese acupuncture. The pressure acts to change the flow of universal chi energy, according to the Eastern belief. The study found that 88 people who experienced nausea after radiation treatments for cancer. Some were given wristbands to wear, and the others were not. And about half of those in the wristband group were also given information that explicitly said the wristbands cut down on nausea, whereas handouts given to the others with wristbands contained more neutral information. Those with wristbands experienced a 24 percent decrease in nausea, regardless of which set of information they were given before the experiment. The group without wristbands reported just a 5 percent lessening of nausea.

Interrupt Hunger has a symbolic color, orange.
Interrupt Hunger is the brainchild of Charlottean, Bill Jollie, who thought of the concept last fall after hearing a National Public Radio report on hunger in America. In certain regions like north and South Carolina over 360,000 people live in poverty. In this number, nearly 120,000 are children and 42,000 seniors. Interrupt hunger motivates people to lose weight by donating $1 for every pound they lose to second harvest food bank of Metrolina. The symbolic color of hunger is orange. Interrupt Hunger will offer its own orange version of the popular rubber wristband to support its cause. Additionally, this wristband serves as a behavior modification tool. When craving something unhealthy, take the wristband off and put it on the other wrist. This technique serves as a voice of reason and helps bring the person back to their focus of losing weight.
