UV Sun Screen Wristbands
Many people do not know when they should re-apply sunscreen lotion. To solve this problem, a gadget has been introduced which will tell you that it is time to apply sunscreen lotion. Buy UV Sun Sense Wristbands, with $9.99 for a pack of seven. Just apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher and wear the wristband before going outdoors, and the orange band turns purple as soon as it’s exposed to the sun. When the wristband turns brown, signaling its time to reapply. After the skin experiences maximum level of safe sun exposure, the band turns salmon, which signifies it is time to beat it indoors. Doris Day, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at New York University Medical Center, says yes. “I think that if people use them as a reminder to apply and reapply sunscreen, to wear sun protective clothing, and to stay in the shade when possible, they serve as an excellent tool to help keep people safe while out in the sun.”

Ban on bushfire appeal wristband
In a primary school, a pupil was asked to remove bushfire appeal wristband. A student by name Luke Bate, studying in Seaford Park Primary School was asked by a teacher to remove the yellow rubber band, which he wore to support the victims of Victoria fires tragedy. But Principal Mark Watters apologized when contacted by Melbourne’s Herald sun, and said Luke could continue wearing the band. Luke had purchased this wristband for $2 out of his pocket money, was sent out of class by the teacher when he refused to remove it. The school then contacted his father, Paul Bate, who said yesterday. “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing”. “The teacher told me Luke’s wristband was against school rules, and that he was not welcome back in class until he removed it”. Mr. Watters said the school, which raised $2440 for fire victims last month, would never say a student could not wear a bushfire wristband. “The teacher at the time did not realise it was a bushfire wristband. We apologize for that misunderstanding, it was an oversight,” he said.

Wisconsin state has standardized use of color-code wristbands
In Wisconsin State, nearly 80% of the hospitals have started using Color-coded wristbands. The Wisconsin Hospital Association wanted that all the hospitals in Wisconsin state use Color coded wristbands by March 1. The association said the high number of hospitals that are now using the same colors on wristbands to identify different medical conditions means they recognize the need to standardize to improve patient safety. In a press release, Dana Richardson, vice president of Wisconsin Hospital Association said “We are aware of more hospitals that will have this process in place very soon”. Color coded wristbands are used to alert physicians to allergies, fall risks and do-not-resuscitate orders, but without standardization, different hospitals can use various colors, which might confuse practitioners who go between facilities.

Safer wristband can benefit vulnerable children and adults
A new tool has been introduced that aims at keeping helpless children and adults close to home. This new tracking system will work as an alarm, if any vulnerable child or adult goes outside of an invisible perimeter the alarm will start ringing. Christine Ogden has a 10 year old son named Channing who is suffering from autism. Her son will go off without permission and wander. But now she need not worry because Cortelezzis has introduced a safer program which can track helpless children or adults suffering from autism. You just set the dial, and families know if this individual wonders away from the home, before they are even out of the yard. The electronic box tracks a signal from a transmitter inside the individual’s wristband. Now Ogden can take her child to the park without any fear. Anyone with a vulnerable child or adult can purchase this kind of wristband.
