Children are very afraid to leave their parents and go to school. This is a memorable, nervous time for both mother and child. Most parents will never forget the first day of their children going to kinder garden. This day is celebrated to honor Friedrich Froebel. He was born on this day in 1782. He was the person who started the first kindergarten in Germany in 1837. Kindergartens were originally a ½ day to get children acclimated into learning, social interaction and school, in a fun, yet educational manner. Kindergarten was opened because of mounting pressures on education, and partly due to the increase in working mothers in America. Working mothers are thankful to Friedrich Froebel because it was he who opened the kindergarten. You can thank him by distributing
wristbands to mothers who have their children in kindergarten.
